The Best Places Are Always a Little Out of the Way
What makes a destination worth the detour?

Most travelers say they want authenticity.
But watch how fast they sprint toward the same over-polished cities.
Rome. New York. Paris. London. Tokyo. Rinse and repeat.
There’s comfort in icons, of course.
But there’s also something numbing about the predictability.
Then there is the detour.
The town you hadn’t planned for.
The sudden turn that wasn’t on the list.
The moment you realize you don’t need a guide, just a good pair of shoes and a bit of hunger.

🏙️ A Suite That Feels Like a Penthouse (Because It Is)
At the Park Hyatt New York (link), the newly redesigned Manhattan Sky Suite offers 4,200 square feet of what they’re calling “livable luxury.” Three bedrooms, a full chef’s kitchen, a spa-style bathroom with a soaking tub, and skyline views from the 59th floor. The vibe? Less Versailles, more discreet Manhattan penthouse. A real shift toward comfort, space, and personal rhythm. Not just over-the-top glam. HYATT

Luxury is no longer just about what you see. It is about how you feel when nobody is watching.
🌴 Ibiza, Reimagined One Hotel at a Time
The party island has grown up. Condé Nast Traveler España rounds up 17 of the best hotels in Ibiza, and the curation is a masterclass in contrasts. Boho luxury at Petunia, retro glam at Montesol Experimental, farm-chic at La Granja, and eco-minimalism at OKU. Ibiza is still loud when it wants to be, but now it also whispers, and some of those whispers come with plunge pools. CNTRAVELER
The new Ibiza is not just a party. It is a place to recover from one in a serious style.
🍁 Canada Launches a New Travel Pass. Here's Why It Matters
Canada just introduced the Canada Travel Guide Pass, a free digital pass that highlights over 130 top destinations across all provinces and territories. It’s not a visa, and it won’t get you upgrades, but it will guide you to wineries, Indigenous cultural centers, scenic drives, and under-the-radar experiences. The pass is part of a national push to inspire more meaningful travel within Canada, especially beyond the big cities. OFFSHORE
No perks, no points, just great ideas. Sometimes that is all you need.
🌺 Bali’s Neon Rose Is the Motel You Didn’t Know You Needed
Set in Pererenan, just west of Canggu, Neon Rose (link) is a four-room boutique motel turning heads for all the right reasons. No poolside DJs, no front desk, no influencer walls. Just smart design, quiet confidence, and a deep connection to the local community. The rooms are intentionally textured, minimalist, and built for real travelers — including remote workers, design lovers, and even families with teens who want something stylish and low-key. Luxury doesn’t always come with a valet. Sometimes it comes with a keycode and a local map.

For the “been there, done that, back for the good stuff in Cabo”…
The Savvy Traveler | Todos Santos, BCS
Wander without a watch
Todos Santos, Mexico, a dusty, slow‑breathing spot between Cabo and La Paz where boutique hotels come with dirt roads and art galleries share walls with tortilla shops.
It isn’t trying to be discovered.
That’s precisely why it should be.
This is your invitation to visit, take it slow, and drink in what makes this town quietly magnetic.
Downtown Todos Santos
Stroll the charming, walkable downtown filled with colorful colonial architecture, vibrant papel picado banners, boutique shops, and lively galleries for an authentic taste of the town's artistic spirit.
Browse local art.
The acclaimed Galería Logan showcases the works of local artist Jill Logan and is a must-visit for art lovers seeking to experience the creative energy that defines Todos Santos.
La Sonrisa de la Muerte is a vibrant graphic art gallery in Todos Santos, showcasing contemporary prints blending Mexican motifs and social themes. Founded by Cedric Volon, it supports emerging artists and offers original, thought-provoking artworks in a welcoming space.
When hunger hits, make it count.
Hierbabuena, just south of Todos Santos in El Pescadero, is a garden-to-table oasis offering seasonal, organic dishes from its on-site garden. Guests dine in a lush open-air setting with wood-fired pizzas, inventive Mexican fare, herbal cocktails, and vegetarian and gluten‑free options.
Jazamango, by chef Javier Plascencia, is a standout farm‑to‑table restaurant in downtown Todos Santos. It sources fresh produce from its own organic orchard and regional partners. Expect inventive Baja dishes, wood‑fired pizzas, seafood, and communal, open‑air dining under vine‑covered canopies.
Close the day with a drink.
The Green Room, at Villa Santa Cruz just north of La Pastora surf break, is a beachfront eatery where you can dine with toes in the sand. It serves fresh Mexican seafood, cold margaritas, and features a casual surf‑vibe atmosphere with board‑short dress code and stunning Pacific sunsets (and occasional whale sightings).
And if you want to stay for the night.
Paradero Todos Santos is an adults-only retreat that blends striking architecture with the desert landscape, providing an immersive, design-forward experience that feels worlds away from the usual Baja resort scene.
Anyway, there’s no wrong way to experience Todos Santos.
Just be present.
The rest will meet you where you are.
And on the events front…
