The Unplanned Journey

What happens when you stop chasing the must-sees and let a place find you?

Brought to you by:

Have you ever felt that a great experience couldn't have ended better if it had been planned?

As you probably have guessed, I love to travel.

And I, being a control freak, always carefully plan my trips.

Well, I didn't plan the last one.

Not really.

No spreadsheets, no color-coded maps, no reservations booked months in advance. Just a window of time, a city that whispered my name, and a promise to myself to “let’s see what happens.”

And that most recent trip—the one with no expectations—ended up being the one I will probably remember most vividly for a long time.

A morning in a tea store where the owner made the mixes herself. An art gallery hidden behind a toy store. An afternoon under the warm winter sun with nothing planned but the companionship of my partner in crime (my wife) and a view that made me forget to check my phone.

Choosing less helped me to experience more somehow.

More presence, not more landmarks, museums, or sightseeing.

More calm.

More local way of life.

The most opulent trips I've found are not price-tagged. They're measured by times when time appears to stop—when you wake up completely to the marvel of being somewhere different, and feeling like you belong.

That's what I wish to express to you.

Not only places but also the craft of really being there. The calm luxury of being there. The treasures that show themselves only when we make space for magic.

No plans? No panic. The best trips always start like this.

I hope you’re nodding now. 🙂

Layovers Are Having a Glow-Up

Once dreaded and barely tolerated, stopovers are suddenly sexy. Airlines from Singapore to Qatar are turning in-transit hours into curated micro-vacations — with luxury hotels, private tours, spa credits, and cultural experiences bundled in. Etihad just joined the party, offering Abu Dhabi stopovers with five-star perks at four-star prices. Turns out, the savviest travelers aren’t rushing through layovers; they’re milking them for every golden-hour cocktail. SLT&S

The Balinese Hideaway That Makes Ubud Look Busy

Bali’s worst-kept secret? The crowds. But just north of the chaos, Munduk Moding Plantation Nature Resort is rewriting the script. Perched between jungle and coffee groves, this eco-luxury retreat offers infinity pools in the clouds, sunrise horseback rides, and zero influencers in sight. The architecture blends into the mist, the coffee is grown on-site, and the luxury feels earned, not bought. This is slow travel with a heartbeat — and probably the Bali you thought you were booking the first time. LUXURY TRAVEL MAG

The Real High Rollers: Where the World Actually Gambles

The true titans of the gambling world are Australia, the United States, Canada, Finland, and the United Kingdom. From Aussies betting over $1,200 annually to Finns spending €500 per person, these nations are not just playing games—they're shaping a multi-billion-dollar industry. When a Boutique Hotel Opens a Restaurant—and It’s the Main Attraction

In Montenegro’s Bay of Kotor, the new Donatella Boutique Hotel & Restaurant is doing what few dare: putting the restaurant before the rooms. Chef Danilo Dangubić crafts a menu rooted in Adriatic tradition, but don’t expect clichés—think slow-aged fish, black truffle orzotto, and garden-to-plate produce. The vibe? Discreet, sea-kissed, and heavy on the kind of luxury that whispers. Come for the coastline, stay for the wine pairing that changes your life. LUXNOMADE

Rock Royalty Meets Irish Pints at The Dublin Castle

Camden Town, 1970s. A pub known for pouring proper Guinness quietly became the launchpad of Madness, Oasis, Blur, and Amy Winehouse. The Dublin Castle, now legendary, was once just a working-class boozer with a backroom stage — until it turned into Britpop's favorite breeding ground. Still open, still loud, and still gloriously unpolished, it’s where musical history hides behind a pint... and the guy next to you might be an off-duty rockstar. ATLAS OBSCURA

The Savvy Traveler | Bali

So, you’ve already done the Bali everyone talks about:

  • The swing over the rice paddies.

  • The crowded “Gates of Heaven” photo op.

  • The sunrise hike up Mount Batur.

  • The bustling cafes of Canggu.

Now, let’s explore a different Bali; one that breathes slower, feels deeper, and invites you to truly connect.

Just a few hours north of Bali’s crowded coasts and smoothie-sipping hotspots lies Munduk — a highland village tucked into the island’s misty interior.

Think dense jungles, hidden waterfalls, cool air scented with cloves and coffee blossoms. This isn’t the Bali of beach clubs and viral swings. This is northern Bali’s soul, where the pace slows, the views stretch, and the sound of your own breath finally catches up with you.

This week, we trade the checklist for a compass — and offer a sneak peek at what a few intentional days in Munduk can feel like.
